Work Experience Pupils Earn Their Stripes

Offering work experience places is something that has been provided on the Course by the Course Manager at LPGC for many years now. Work Experience works well for both the pupils and Langley Park. Pupils are unable to use powered machinery due to health & safety restrictions, however their are a variety of tasks they can undertake which benefit both parties. Clearing the 3rd ditch is one exercise that can be tackled.

16th Tee Water Problem/Leak

Over a period of time a large amount of water has developed a rather boggy and stagnant area to the right of the 16th tee. Originally this was thought to be a leak on the irrigation. This proved to be in-correct when the irrigation to the tee was isolated and the wet area continued to increase is size. After digging down in what appeared to be the source of the problem, it became clear that the water was actually coming from somewhere else.

After further investigation, the source of the problem appears to be coming from the property adjacent to the right of the tee. The occupiers have been informed and hopefully the problem will soon be resolved.

15th Tee

The new 15th tee finally got its first cut using a ride-on triple... Grass growth training in process...

Wild Grass/Rough

The wild grass/long rough areas were cut and collected recently in specific areas. This also included the mounds across the 8th and 11th fairways which catch many golf shots.

The wild grass/long rough areas and mounds are cut in accordance with good ecological practice by removing the clippings during the cutting process.

Algae/Blanket Weed Removal & Control

The Ultrasonic Unit in the lake which controls algae/blanket weed development has become faulty. The algae which built up was removed manually by contractors.

Following the removal, water soluble sachets of black dye were placed in the lake. This reduces UV light penetration through the water which the algae/blanket weed requires to develop and spread.
